Allergies, Asthma & Immune dysfunction

 

The seemingly unrelated disorders of allergies, asthma, eczema, ADHD, anxiety, learning delay, digestive disorders and Autism are in fact connected. Many studies have shown that modern toxins, nutritional deficiencies and faulty metabolisms damage our nerve, immune and digestive systems. This in turn triggers most of the symptoms associated with these disorders. 

Whatever the cause, one thing is for sure - even just asthma hits our country hard. Let's take a look at the statistics.

• A startling one in six adults and one in four children experience asthma symptoms. (This equates to over 600,000 Kiwis.)
• The prevalence of asthma appears to be similar across New Zealand metropolitan centers.
• Asthma is the most common cause of admission to hospital for children.
• Severe asthma is common - up to 8% of teenagers report wheeze limiting speech, and 10% of adults report waking with breathlessness occurring within the previous 12 months.
• Hospitalisation rates for asthma have more than doubled in the past 30 years.
• Asthma is the highest-ranking specific disease in terms of Years Lost to Disability in males, and third highest for females. ('Years Lost to Disability' represent time in which a person is too unwell to enjoy the productive life they normally would.

There are many studies showing the decrease in the symptoms of asthma and allergies with chiropractic care.  While chiropractic is not a cure for asthma, your chiropractic care, working together with the care from you medical doctor, may prove extremely beneficial for your child.
